Welcome To The Canadian Finance Blog!

I live in Alberta, Canada and am a Financial Analyst for a major retailer. Over the last few years my interest in personal finance has greatly increased as I learn from many books and blogs.

Over the next year I’m expecting to make some significant financial changes. I just got married in September 2008 and will be looking to reduce taxes through income splitting wherever I can. I’m planning to list my townhouse and move up to a detached house. When I do this I will look for a readvanceable mortgage so I can start the Smith Manoeuvre to reduce my non-deductible mortgage and increase my investments. We are expecting our first child in October 2009 so I will look to reduce any expenses while the wife isn’t working and will hopefully be able to continue our savings.

I am hoping that this blog will provide some useful ideas to you and am looking forward to any comments that will help me in my quest to continually improve my finances and net worth!
