Two other sites that are worth a look at are http://www.buxfer.com and money.strands.com. After checking out almost every online money management sites, I think I have found the one that does everything I want, in Buxfer. It allows you to import transaction from QIF, QFX, and CSV formats. I have several accounts that I can’t link into from sites like Mint.com. Also, it allows for revolving /rollover budgeting. That is the system I have been using for a while now in Excel, but was getting tired of manually adding transactions into it.

Nice blog, but I just wanted to point out that there are some good free accounting and tax websites out there that provide really useful information for households. Maybe for another blog?

The first thing I do when looking for a site is look into the forums to see the issues and Buxfor is dead as per this article. It looks like the founders took jobs at facebook and no more support is given. No telling when the site will shut down and information is lost.

  5. Rob from Wave

Nice list. May I add Wave Accounting to that? Though Wave is primarily a free online accounting program for small businesses, each Wave account has a Personal dashboard where you can track your household income and spending. And it’s totally free, too! You can connect your bank to Wave and transactions will come in automatically, or if you prefer, you can upload electronic statements. Either option lets you skip manual entry of each receipt, so tracking your personal money is fast and easy.
    Thanks!

Not sure how many like to budget online anonymously without giving out access to bank accounts and how many heard about this website but I used Out Of The Dark (OOTD) Budgeting for over a year now and it really changed my life financially. It has budgeting and expense tracking on one page side by side which I love, it has cash put-aside and personal stock management built in, and it has something called Credit Card Debt Terminator which I have not seen anywhere else which is great if one wants to get out of any credit card debt situation, it is completely anonymous to use, does not require me to give out access to any of my bank accounts and it’s unconditionally free. Find it at: myootd.org
