Tom Drake lives in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and is the owner and head writer of Canadian Finance Blog and a Financial Analyst for a major retailer. Over the last few years his interest in personal finance has greatly increased as he learns from many books and blogs.
Tom has made some significant financial changes over the past couple years. He got married in September 2008 and then sold their townhouse in early 2009 and moved into a detached house. Tom has a readvanceable mortgage and plans to start the Smith Manoeuvre to reduce his non-deductible mortgage and increase his investments. Tom and his wife’s first child arrived in October 2009 so he is looking to reduce any expenses while his wife stays home to look after the baby and they hope to be able to continue their savings.
