Welcome to the Spider-Man edition of the Festival of Frugality! The last time I hosted this carnival was back in September and I had a G.I.Joe theme that had a lot of comments with people reminiscing back to their youth. So for this edition I thought I’d look back at something that was a staple of Saturday morning cartoons… Spider-Man! I hope you enjoy all these great articles!

Spider-Man is an animated television series that ran from September 9, 1967 to June 14, 1970. It was jointly produced in Canada (for voice talent) and the United States (for animation) and was the first animated adaptation of the Spider-Man comic book series.

Spider-Man: The Animated Series, is an American animated series starring the Marvel Comics superhero, Spider-Man. The show ran on Fox Kids from November 19, 1994, to January 31, 1998.

Spider-Man Unlimited is a short-lived animated series Spider-Man. The series was released in 1999, and although it had fair ratings it was overshadowed by the main ratings grabber at the time, Pokémon, and was canceled after only a few episodes were aired. Fox later resumed airing the show, airing 13 episodes, the last ending on a cliffhanger. Several scripts written for Season 2, including the conclusion of the cliffhanger, were never produced.

Spider-Man: The New Animated Series ran for one season, starting on July 11, 2003. The show was made using computer generated imagery (CGI) rendered in cel shading and was broadcast on MTV and YTV. Spider-Man was voiced by Neil Patrick Harris.

The Spectacular Spider-Man has a tone and style based primarily on the original stories by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, with a similar balance of action, drama, and comedy as well as a high school setting. However, it also tends to utilize material from all eras of the comic’s run and other sources such as the film series and the Ultimate Spider-Man comics.

Do you remember those awful Spiderman films from the 70s? There was also weird Japanese adaptation wher he had some kind of large contraption on his arm and had fights with giant growing monsters…. was very weird indeed!

The theme song of that cartoon still rings through my head. It was briefly played in the first Spiderman movie with Tobey Mcguire (street singer).
Actually, Spider-Man showed on Fox 11 every weekday morning for us in Southern California. I think it was on at 6:30am
