re:#2 and sale of personal finance blogs. Quinn Street media has been throwing a lot of cash around for a few years. They have a subsidiary in the US that pays for insurance leads (names and #’s of people looking for different types of insurance) and they’re paying multiples more than anyone else for the same thing. And they purchased an insurance lead generation site from someone I know in the industry (US based) for a reported 7 figures.
The internet and finance are a hot commodity and a lot of the old school media empires are desperate to get on board. Look no further than Rogers, Sympatico/Bell and MSN – all working the personal finance websites real hard. That’s a pretty good indication that there’s money there.
